Fall Choir for Children & Adults, start September 17th, 2013. ‘Holidays in the Movies’

The Saco Bay Jazz Vocal Ensemble

This Auditioned Jazz Choir is for the advanced High School Student and Adult singer. This choir rehearses from April through September to prepare for an August ‘Voices In Harmony’ concert and various venues throughout the fall. Prior jazz experience is not necessary; however a strong singing background is a prerequisite. Each participant must commit to weekly rehearsals to develop proper tone & harmonic strength and to prepare memorized arrangements with confidence. Singers are required to use a rehearsal CD to learn parts on their own as an active member. Auditions are held for vacancies in the choir only. Audition Tips & Info:
Prepare a one-minute song in the jazz style for the audition & please bring music.
You will be asked to sing with others during the audition.
Looking for performers with versatility & vocal flexibility.
Vocal Improvisation is not a requirement, but certainly a bonus.
Before the audition, relax, drink water and avoid milk products.
Warm-up your voice by singing your favorite songs within your vocal range.
All audition activities will be thoroughly guided and allow time for questions and exploration.
Check back in the spring for possible openings in this choir.

What will this choir do?
• Perform memorized arrangements in a variety of jazz styles with a rhythm section.
• Learn to sing in tight jazz harmonies.
• Explore with scat/ vocal improvisation.
• Become part of an expressive and warm team of special people.
• Sing in some neat performance venues and also where it matters the most- the community.
